Shaftman Performance Hall

The $9 million renovation of Shaftman Performance Hall was completed in May 2001. Technical components brought Shaftman Performance Hall into the 21st century and include an orchestra lift, expanded stage area, an updated sound system and an upgraded lighting systems, allowing you to do anything from a simple lecture, to a rock concert or a fully staged opera. At considerable expense the roof was raised 22-feet to create a 65-foot tower that houses the impressive stage rigging. Other features include a full acoustic shell, ample dressing rooms and a 9’ Steinway concert grand piano.

Consistent with the goal to be a first class performance facility Shaftman Performance Hall was modeled after a popular 17th century “shoe box” English opera house design, showcases an impressive balcony, classic appointments and superb acoustics. The auditorium has solid wood paneling and chairs are luxurious seats made of cherry wood and plush velvet cushions. Loges and chandeliers add extra charm and recall the spirit of an old world opera house. A first-rate performance facility with the latest technical equipment makes this an outstanding venue for classical and contemporary entertainment. Shaftman Performance Hall is also the ideal setting for lectures, seminars, annual meetings, awards presentations and ceremonies of all kinds.

SEATING CAPACITY Total seating capacity is 925 with 668 seats on the main level, 211 in the balcony and an additional 46 loge seats at balcony level. Handicapped accessible seating is available in row L and row X, and wheelchair spaces are available on the main level.
