As CDC relaxes its COVID mitigation recommendations, Jefferson Center is happy to update our protocols to be reflective of the current climate.
Jefferson Center no longer requires proof of vaccination or a negative test result to attend. Masks are no longer needed if Roanoke City and Roanoke County remain in Low or Medium community levels as defined by the CDC.
Please note that Jefferson Center or our community partners (Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, Opera Roanoke, Virginia Children’s Theater, etc…) may set varying protocols as contracted by certain artists or preferred by the organizations themselves. Always check the event page on our website or the community partner’s website specific to the event you are attending for updated protocols.
(For events that are not part of “Jefferson Center Presents” please check the corresponding specific event page on our website for their refund policies)

Because many Jefferson Center performances are part of a larger nationwide or worldwide tour for most artists, we must leave the decision to cancel a show due to inclement weather up to the performing artist. Likewise, it is up to the discretion of the performing artist to reschedule a show. If a show is cancelled due to inclement weather Jefferson Center will update the event page on this website, post the cancellation on our Facebook page and also the recording on the box office phone line. If a show is cancelled we will offer full refunds to anyone who has purchased tickets. If the show goes on as scheduled despite inclement weather, no refund will be issued. If a show is rescheduled by an artist, patrons may receive a refund for their ticket if they are not able to attend the concert on the rescheduled date.
Jefferson Center’s house policy is that no photography, flash or otherwise, is allowed in Shaftman Performance Hall. We strive to create an environment where the memories are captured with your senses, instead of your technology. However, allowing photos/videos at a performance is ultimately left up to the performing artist. Generally artists do not allow recording devices at their shows, however feel free to call our Box Office at any point before a show if you have questions about bringing a camera to an event or ask an usher on the night of the event.
